Restore Your Damaged Teeth

Saunders DDS now offers CEREC in Asheville, NC. Make your appointment today.

CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, which is a way of making dental restorations such as fillings, crowns, or veneers right in our office with computer-aided design (CAD). This means that your dentist in Asheville, Dr. Saunders, can quickly restore damaged teeth using a durable ceramic material that matches the natural color of the other teeth in your mouth in just one appointment.

CEREC works using a computer that reads the digital impressions of your teeth and conveys them to a milling machine that will construct your dental restoration for you right in our office. No need to wait for the lab to create your restoration or wear a temporary tooth while doing so. CEREC is designed to work in one appointment without the use of lab-created restorations so that you can get everything done in one simple visit to our Asheville family dentist office!

Cerec AshevilleThe Advantages of CEREC

CEREC has many advantages that a traditional approach using a lab-created restoration and waiting for that restoration can't offer. By getting your restoration done in one visit, you'll be ready to feel great about your smile again in no time. The benefits of CEREC include:

Time. The whole procedure can be performed in a single visit, usually in about two hours. With CEREC, there's no need to make an impression of your teeth and send it to a lab. We save you time by eliminating the need for a second visit.  That way, your time visiting our Asheville dental practice is as short as possible for your convenience!

Aesthetics. The new restoration is natural-looking because it's made of tooth-colored ceramic material. Being metal-free helps to cosmetically improve your smile! The ceramic material is compatible with the tissue in your mouth and is high-grade, anti-abrasive, and plaque-resistant. It allows us to be extremely precise and save more of the healthy part of your tooth during your restoration.

Convenience. No need to take a messy impression and send it to the lab. Everything including measurements, construction, and production of your restoration is completed at our Asheville dentist office in a single visit. No waiting for the lab to return the work. No need to wear a temporary you'll be ready to show the world your new smile upon leaving our office rather than wearing a temporary tooth while you wait for your lab restorations to come back.

Functionality. The ceramic matches your teeth seamlessly in look and in function, so you'll be able to enjoy the sturdiness and full functionality of your restoration as well as the natural color.

CEREC also allows us to keep more of your natural teeth. Often when restorations are done, at least part of your tooth needs to be sanded down or cut to make room for the new part. With CEREC, this is minimally done and yet your crown, filling, or veneer is still held securely in place.

CEREC restorations also last a long time and are competitive with restorations made in the lab that take longer to produce. CEREC is safe and durable for your smile!

CEREC technology can be used for:

  • Chipped tooth
  • Large fillings
  • Single-tooth restorations

What to Expect During Your Visit for Dental CEREC RestorationsDental Exam - Asheville Dentists

Your dental appointment for restoration using the CEREC technique will take up to two hours, so you should be prepared for this amount of appointment time. During your appointment, digital impressions of the affected area of your mouth will be taken by Dr. Saunders using a special camera.

After your digital impressions are conveyed to the CEREC computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) machine, a porcelain restoration for your tooth or teeth will be created based on your custom measurements. This process is usually able to be completed in under an hour!

After the machine is done making your custom restoration, your Asheville dentist, Dr. Saunders, will evaluate the color, fit, and size of your restoration before bonding it to your teeth. The color will adequately match that of your natural teeth, making the CEREC design virtually impossible to tell apart from your natural smile.

Once in place and evaluated for accuracy, the restoration will be bonded permanently to your teeth. If all is in order, you'll be able to return home with your new restoration!

If you need a dental restoration such as a crown or veneer but don't want to wait for the lab to make it for you, consider CEREC.
